Tax representative in Greece

Last updated: 25 September 2026

A tax representative is the person who represents you before the Greek tax authority while you live outside Greece. For residents of countries outside the EU and EEA it is generally mandatory; for EU residents it is optional but often convenient. We can take on this role.

Who needs one

  • Residents of countries outside the EU and EEA, for example the USA, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, who have a Greek tax number (AFM).
  • EU residents who prefer to have someone in Greece following tax authority correspondence and deadlines.
  • Property buyers and Golden Visa applicants, who need an AFM and a representative from the start.

What a representative does

  • acts as your link with AADE for every notice, notification or request,
  • follows deadlines and tells you in good time,
  • handles your matters with the tax authority, such as updating your details or obtaining certificates.

The representative does not pay your taxes or make decisions for you: they keep you informed and do what we agree.

How it is set up

  1. A free first meeting, to see whether you need one and what it will cover.
  2. Appointment with AADE, accepted by the representative. With Taxisnet credentials it is done online; without them, with a document bearing a certified signature (see Greek tax number and Taxisnet access from abroad).
  3. Ongoing annual support, for a fixed fee agreed in advance.

What we will need from you

  • passport or ID card and your Greek AFM (if you do not have one, we start there),
  • your address abroad and your tax identification number (TIN) there,
  • contact details you check regularly.
